Our GOeSPRAY Story

After winning Silver in the 2006 Torino Olympics as an ice dancer with partner Tanith Belbin, Ben felt on top of the world- living his dream performing across the globe with the world's most elite figure skaters. However, he started noticing his friends and cast mates sitting farther and farther away from him in the locker rooms each night. The odor from his skates was literally clearing the room!

After trying every product on the market - body sprays, foot powders, and more - he found nothing worked. Most sprays had alcohol which would crack the leather in his skates. Or, they were 95% water and only added moisture and bacteria to the boot. Deodorizing powders caked.

After reading everything possible about natural cleaners and the anti-microbial properties of essential oils, he realized the powerful ingredients he could leverage to solve his problem. He started making the spray for himself and his friends, other Olympic athletes.

Fast forward to 2018 when Katherine & Ben started dating. As a World figure skating choreographer, Katherine was experiencing the same problems - hours and hours in her skates and smelly gear to carry around afterward. Her biggest pain point - her skates' odor lingering in her car (or, luggage when traveling). She had tried everything as well - including the deodorizing inserts that seemed to last all of about a week.

When Ben suggested she try "his spray" she was skeptical at best but quickly found it was the first thing to ever eliminate the odor. With Katherine's background in management consulting, the business of GOeSPRAY was born.

Katherine & Ben, now married and living in Colorado Springs to work at the US Olympics Training Site, choreograph for and train elite figure skaters from around the world as well as for international film, television, and live shows (Cirque du Soleil, Disney on Ice, CBC, NBC, Marv Film Productions, etc) They use GOeSPRAY each day on their skates and have been thrilled to find so many elite athletes love it as well. Olympic Gold medalists and Stanley Cup Winners alike reach out to say "hey, can I get more of that spray? I'm loving it".

"I left a corporate job to pursue my passion for choreography and each day I get to make up dance moves on ice I feel my most confident self. I hope for everyone to live out their passion - on the court, in the studio...wherever they feel best - without the annoying odor. The odor is such a drag after a training session that made you feel on top of the world. It's not your fault you fell in love with a sport with unwashable equipment!"

"I love sports gear. Some might say I'm a "gearhead". And, I want people who invest in their gear, like me, to be able to maintain it properly. It was unacceptable when other sprays were cracking my expensive skates. I want to maintain top of the line gear- not ruin it."
